Terms of Service

Last updated

Please read these terms before using Vobo. By accessing the site you agree to be bound by them, together with our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of https://vobo.online and all pages, feeds and files served from it (together, the “Site”), operated by Vobo (“Vobo”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By accessing or using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Site on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. Definitions

  • Content means all text, articles, illustrations, diagrams, metadata and other material published on the Site.
  • You or Reader means any person who accesses or uses the Site.
  • Third-Party Services means services operated by others, including any advertising, analytics and linked websites.

3. Independence from WhatsApp and Meta

Vobo is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc. “WhatsApp” is a trademark of its respective owner and is used here descriptively, to identify the product we write about, which is nominative fair use. We have no access to your WhatsApp account, your messages, or any system operated by those companies, and we cannot recover, unblock, restore or unban anything on your behalf. Nothing on the Site is an official WhatsApp communication.

4. Eligibility

The Site is written for a general audience. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, you should use the Site with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the Site you confirm you are able to form a binding contract and are not barred from doing so under applicable law.

5. Intellectual property

All Content on the Site is original work created by Vobo, and it together with the site design, layout, branding and illustrations is our property or licensed to us, protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The Vobo name and logo are our trademarks.

You may read, print and share our articles for your own personal, non-commercial use, and you may quote short passages with attribution and a link to the original page. You may not republish, sell, or systematically reproduce our Content, in whole or in substantial part, without written permission. Republishing our articles as your own — or feeding them into a service that does — is not permitted.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Site in violation of any applicable law;
  • use bots, scrapers or crawlers to systematically copy the Site, or to place a load on our infrastructure beyond ordinary reading;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Site, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it or to the systems that publish it;
  • remove or alter any copyright, trademark or attribution notice;
  • republish our Content as your own, or present it as an official WhatsApp or Meta communication;
  • use the Site to distribute malware or to engage in fraudulent, harmful or deceptive activity.

We publish a llms.txt file and a robots.txt file stating how automated clients may use the Site. Reading them is part of using the Site responsibly.

7. Information only — this is not professional advice

The Site explains how a consumer messaging application behaves. It is general information, not advice for your particular situation, and nothing on it is legal, security, financial or professional advice of any kind. Where an article touches on fraud, harassment or unlawful image sharing, it describes the general position and points to the proper reporting routes; it is not a substitute for advice from a solicitor, from the police or from your bank. See our Disclaimer for the full statement.

WhatsApp changes frequently. Menu paths, settings, limits and supported operating system versions all move, sometimes several times a year, and they differ between iOS, Android and regions. We date every article and correct what we find, and you should still verify anything important against WhatsApp’s own current documentation before relying on it.

8. Corrections and messages you send us

The Site has no accounts, comments or uploads, so there is no user content on it. If you email us a correction, a question or a suggestion, you grant us permission to act on it, including to change an article in response. We will not publish your name, your email address or the text of your message without asking you first.

Our articles cite primary sources, most often WhatsApp’s own help pages. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, policies or availability. A link is a citation, not an endorsement, and your use of any linked site is governed by that site’s own terms.

10. Advertising, cookies and analytics

The Site is supported by advertising and uses analytics. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google’s My Ad Center or the Digital Advertising Alliance at optout.aboutads.info. Where consent is required by law we ask for it through a Google-certified consent management platform before non-essential cookies are set.

We are not responsible for the content of advertisements or for the products and services they promote, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and them. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

11. Availability and changes to the Site

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Site at any time, including removing or rewriting articles. We do not guarantee that the Site will be available uninterrupted or error-free.

12. Disclaimers and no warranty

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any Content is accurate, complete or current for your device, your app version or your country.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect your statutory rights.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VOBO AND ITS OPERATORS AND CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE OR ANY CONTENT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. Subject to the paragraph above, our total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100.00). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

In particular, and without limiting the above: we are not liable for loss of chat history, loss of access to a WhatsApp account, or any other consequence of following a step described on the Site. WhatsApp is not our product, its behaviour changes without notice to us, and actions such as reinstalling the app or deleting an account are irreversible. Back up before you act.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vobo and its operators from any claims, damages, liabilities and reasonable expenses arising out of your use of the Site, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of any law or third-party right.

Everything on the Site is our own writing, so a valid infringement claim against us should be rare — but if you believe Content on the Site infringes your copyright, our notice-and-takedown procedure, including the DMCA process and the counter-notice route, is set out in full on our DMCA and Copyright Policy page.

16. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms and any dispute arising out of them or out of the Site are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator of this site is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any such dispute will be resolved in the state and federal courts having jurisdiction over the operator of this site, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Nothing in this section deprives a consumer of the protection of the mandatory law of their country of residence where that law applies regardless of choice of forum.

17. International readers

The Site is operated from the United States and is available worldwide. We make no representation that the Content is appropriate or accurate in every location. WhatsApp’s features and availability differ by country, and some functions described on the Site are restricted or unavailable in certain places. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with your local law.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page, and material changes will be noted on the Site. Continuing to use the Site after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.

19. Termination

We may restrict or terminate access to the Site, in whole or in part, at any time, including for breach of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive — intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification and governing law — survive termination.

20. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Disclaimer, are the entire agreement between you and Vobo regarding the Site.
