Disclaimer

Last updated

Everything on Vobo is published for general information and education. By using the site you accept the terms of this disclaimer. If you do not, please stop using the site.

1. General information only

All content on Vobo — articles, explanations, tables, diagrams and answers — is provided in good faith for general use. We make no representation or warranty of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability or suitability of any of it for your particular circumstances. Any reliance you place on it is strictly at your own risk.

2. Not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta

Vobo is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc. “WhatsApp” is a trademark of its respective owner, used here descriptively to identify the product we write about.

This matters practically, not just legally. We have no access to any WhatsApp account, including yours. We cannot recover a lost account, restore deleted messages, unban an account, reverse a block, reveal who blocked you, or contact anyone at WhatsApp on your behalf. Nobody who can do those things works here, and anybody who tells you otherwise — including anyone claiming to be us — is attempting a fraud. We will never ask you for a verification code, a password, a PIN, payment, or remote access to your device.

3. WhatsApp changes; articles date

WhatsApp is updated constantly. Menu paths move, settings are renamed, features launch in one country before another, limits change, and support for older operating systems is withdrawn — sometimes several times a year. What is more, the app differs between iOS and Android and between regions, so an accurate description of one build can be wrong for another.

We date every article, we say when something varies by platform or region, and we deliberately avoid printing figures that go stale quietly — such as minimum supported OS versions — because a confidently wrong number is worse than no number. We still cannot guarantee that any instruction matches the app in your hand today. Check anything important against WhatsApp’s own current documentation before acting on it.

4. Not professional advice

Nothing on Vobo is professional advice of any kind, including legal, security, financial, medical or psychological advice. Our articles describe how a consumer application behaves; they are not tailored to your situation and cannot account for facts we do not know.

Several of our articles touch on serious matters — fraud, romance scams, account theft, harassment, and the sharing of intimate images without consent. Where they do, they describe the general position and point to the proper routes: your bank, the police, a national fraud reporting service, or a qualified lawyer. That is signposting, not representation. We cannot advise on, investigate or intervene in an individual case, and we are not able to act as an intermediary with any platform or authority.

5. Actions you take are your own

Some steps described on this site are irreversible. Reinstalling WhatsApp without a current backup destroys chat history permanently. Deleting an account cannot be undone. Changing a phone number after the old number has lapsed cannot be recovered from. Where an action carries that risk we say so in the article, usually more than once.

You are responsible for the actions you take on your own device and account, including backing up before you do anything destructive. Vobo is not liable for lost messages, lost media, lost access, or any other consequence of following a step described here.

We cite primary sources, most often WhatsApp’s own help pages and published research. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. A link is a citation and not an endorsement. Links leave our site; what happens after that is governed by the destination’s own terms.

7. Advertising disclosure

This site is supported by advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense. Advertisements are visually distinct from our editorial content, and no advertiser has any influence over what we write or which conclusions we reach. We do not control, endorse or take responsibility for the products, services or claims made in third-party advertisements, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are solely between you and them. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising data is handled.

8. Fair use notice

We quote briefly from copyrighted material for the purposes of commentary, criticism, review, scholarship and reporting. We believe such use constitutes fair use under 17 U.S.C. § 107 of United States copyright law. If you are a rights holder and believe a use exceeds that, please see our DMCA and Copyright Policy or write to us.

9. Errors and corrections

We aim for accuracy and we will get things wrong anyway. The site may contain typographical errors, outdated steps or plain mistakes. We reserve the right to correct and update content at any time without notice, and we would much rather hear about an error than have it sit there. Tell us at our contact page; our approach to corrections is set out on the editorial policy page.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vobo and its operators and contributors are not liable for any loss or damage — including indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive loss — arising out of or in connection with your access to, use of, or inability to use the site or any content or link on it. The site and all content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so some of these limitations may not apply to you. See section 13 of our Terms of Service.

11. Changes to this disclaimer

We may update this disclaimer to reflect changes to the site or to applicable law. Material changes will be posted here with a revised “last updated” date. Continuing to use the site after a change takes effect means you accept it.
